Making money online is definitely the "in" thing today. Everywhere, anywhere, people are talking about the endless possibility of earning and living off your earnings online.

You read endless testimonial, looked at numerous "payment proofs" that tells you one thing, you can quit your job, sit in front of your computer about two to three hours and make a thousand bucks everyday. Good to hear. Make you dream. You even start selecting yatches and beaches where you will watch sun set everyday sipping Pina Colada. Nice dream. Now, get back here. Reality is not as beautiful.

I agree that you can earn nice monthly income selling things/services on the net. It does not have to be your own products/services even. The word is affiliate marketing. You sell someone elses product/services and you receive commision from it. But that takes alot of hard work and many many hours of work. You cannot just upload your marketing site on the net, go to sleep and expect people to flock your page and make purchases.

There is another type of earning online. It is earning as a consumer. You get paid for reading ads, you get paid for clicking on pages. This is a simple way of earning online. Simple, but not easy. You have to sit infront of your PC and mindlessly click here and there, and get paid pittance for it. The money you receive won't be enough for the return trip to The Carribean. Not unless you do it for a long long time that is. But the problem is, these type of sites do not last long. Sooner or later, they will collapse. Most often than not, they collapse before you getting paid. Having said this, I will say that if you are looking for a quick buck and you have alot of time to spare, go for this type of earning scheme. Withdraw your payment as soon as it reaches the minimum payout.

Then, there is another way to get paid. By writing articles. By participating in discussion. I guess Hubpages is one of the example. However, you do not earn directly from Hubpages (Not that I am aware of). You get paid from Google Adsense and Amazon Associates. There are sites that pay you directly for writing articles like Helium and for participating in discussion like MyLot. These type of sites are more fun as it stimulate your senses (especially the thinking sense) and the pay rates are reletively higher. These types of sites are reletively more stable too. So, you do not have to worry of it being gone when you wake up.

Another way of earning online is HYIP "investment". This is the most high risk type of earning because you have to "invest" your money upfront. It is widely known that HYIP is nothing but glorified PONZIs. But there is a possibility of you earning much much more than from anywhere else. Likewise, there is also a possibilities of losing all of your money in a blink of an eye. Thread with caution. "Invest" only what you can afford to lose, get in at the right time, get out at the right time. You'll profit a few dollars.

My current favorite is, making money by blogging. Start a blog, update it regularly with good content. Direct traffic to your blog, get it indexed in search engines and then start making money from it. There is a wide range of ways to monetize your blog. From Google adsense to PayPerPost.

I am sure there are many many more ways to make money. But hopefully I have covered the most popular ones. Now, what can you see from this compilation?

That, no, you cannot make a million overnight from the internet. In fact you cannot make a million overnight from anywhere, unless you hit the lottery. No, it is never easy to make a single cent on the net. You have to work for it. No, it is not okay for you to quit your day job. Not yet, anyway.

Make a detailed plan. Write down what you want to achive. Set a timeframe. Be realistic. You can earn online. Over time, you might even be rich, making money online. But it involve work.

Making thousand bucks, working two hours a week from your home is pure myth.
